SS20303 ENVIRONMENTAL CHEMISTRY & CHEMODYNAMIC

Synopsis

 
This course covers the chemistry aspects of environment. The topic of discussion is divided into two parts. The first part covers the chemistry of water, atmosphere, soil and sediment as well as the physicochemical characteristics of organic and inorganic materials in respective environment. The second part emphasis on process and interaction mechanism of organic and inorganic pollutants in the environment. These include adsorption, desorption, diffusion, degradation, biological transport and uptake.
 

SS31203 INDUSTRIAL TRAINING

Synopsis

Student shall be placed in an industry or research area at least 10 weeks under lecturer supervision. This training will be evaluated and student requested provide one written report after the industrial training over.

 

ST00502 BASIC CHEMISTRY

Synopsis

The course discusses the concepts and fundamental principles of chemistry. These will cover analytical chemistry, physical chemistry, organic chemistry, and inorganic chemistry. The topics are atoms, molecules, and compounds; quantitative measurement in chemistry; solution; solids, liquid and gases; chemical and aqueous equilibrium; kinetic chemistry; electrochemistry; hydrocarbon compounds and organic functional groups, polymers; petroleum; periodic table; metallic compounds; non-metal and transitional metals; and nuclear chemistry.
