Our team members consisting of seven second year undergraduate students and a faculty member, namely, Harry Chong Lye Hin (Ph.D.), Benedict Ong Yun Wui, Wong Ken Hong, Vanessa Clare, Jessie Lee Pui Yu, Chan Chock Ying, Chan Wai Chee and Wong Shu Min, joined a research and innovation competition, PEREKA 2010.

 

The submition was a solar cooker code named SURIA cooker which means Sabah University Rural Improvement Alternative cooker.  It is cost effective, simple technology yet environmental friendly innovation which made of approximately 95% recycled materials which cost RM 29 to construct.  We hope to help the people in rural area of Sabah as well as to make learning science fun to school children.
