1. Glass-ceramics

Research interest focuses on the developement of advanced ceramic and glass-ceramic, mainly in using the vast abundant minerals in Sabah. It will also be correlated with characterization of microstructures, the study on crystals evolution (minerological characterization) and the sintering (processing) of the materials.

2. Sol-gel processing of glasses and ceramics

Principal interest is in the use of sol-gel technology in developing materials like nano-powders based lithium aluminosilicate and alumina, bioactive coatings based on hydroxyapatite and fluormica glass-ceramics.

3. Utilization of Biomass (Oil Palm Fibres & Shells) and Palm Oil Fuel Ash (POFA)

Main interest is to fully utilize the biomass produced by Sabah's palm oil industries. POFA has the potential to be low cost sorbents for heavy metals in aqueous environment while the study on the utilization of oil palm fibres/shells as contituents in an advanced ceramic articles.
